Mog I can...

This is kind of an odd post and most of you may wonder why I'm doing a post about this. Well, it's because I find it kind of funny and want to remember that Carter did this when he was little. Ready? Here we go...

For those of you who may not know, Zach and I both served our missions in Russia. When we started our family we decided that we wanted our kids to know Russian so Zach only speaks to the kids in Russian and I speak to them in English. This way they always hear both languages. There's more to this (Russian and English in our house) story but that's enough for everyone to understand the rest of this post. If you want to know more just leave me a comment.

Now, the reason for writing this post...
Whenever Carter says "I can" or even "I can't" in a sentence he also uses "mog" which is a way of saying can in Russian. So, for example, he'll say, "How 'bout we go in my room mog we can play?" or "I moved that mog Austin can't get it." He uses it EVERY time he says can. I'm not sure when it started. I noticed it two or three weeks ago and then pointed it out to Zach. It makes us chuckle sometimes. We're not too worried about it. He'll get it all sorted out pretty quickly, at least he has with the other language mixing he's done. It really has been neat to watch him pick up both of the languages and see where his Russian is more dominant and where his English is more dominant. It especially tickles my funny bone when he says a sentence and it's almost perfectly split with every other word Russian and English. "My palets is gatov mog I can push the button. Ya hachoo Daddy!" (That's the latest one I can think of.) Oh the mind of a three year old.
