Kaput

So, as I was drying my hair this morning my blow dryer died. It wasn't a quiet slow death. I saw smoke, then something popped, there was a flash, more smoke and then nothing. This blow dryer went out with a bang as it seems all of my dryers do. Because of my previous track record with hair dryers (I think I went through four in my two years at college) I keep a spare on hand so I was able to finish my hair. Thank goodness for that! It would not have been pretty if I had just stopped when my dryer died, not pretty at all!!

Now I have the task of finding a new one. I'm sure some of you are wondering, "Why no just use your spare?" My answer is, Because I don't like it but I keep it around for situations like this when it's better than nothing. The dryer that just died has been a good one. I think I've had it for six years. I'm pretty sure I bought it soon after I got home from my mission in 2003. That's a long life for a blow dryer, at least for me it is. I'm trying to decide if I should just get another one like my last one (the current model) or if I should try something new. What do you think? What kind of hair dryer do you use? Help me out here, Ladies! Thanks!

Hey Sis! I have the same problem with hair dryers. I can't believe you've had this last one for 6 years! I just recently went through 2 (I keep a crappy one on hand too). I don't have any suggestions. But which one did you use this last time that lasted so long?

I'm excited to see you this weekend! Love ya!

I need a new one, too! I've been wondering how to find a good one. I remember using one recently that was really hot...borrow it...but I can't remember where and why. Maybe it was my mom's. I'll try to find out what hers was.

I think I dry my hair once a month (if that), so I'm no help. My hair dryer keeps trying to die, but the lack of use keeps it going! Someday I'll grow up and do my hair on a regular basis...

I have found that it doesn't matter if you buy the expensive salon ones or a cheepo from Target, they all die eventually. I am using a conair right now and its been great but i have only had it for a year or so. I to cannot believe that you had one for 6 years. That should go in the guinness book of world records!

This is probably too late, but last week, Greg and I stayed at a hotel and believe it or not, the hair dryer was fabulous. Usually, I hate hotel hair dryers. Anyway, I thought of you the whole time and made a mental note of what they were called, but it turns out my mental notes get lost. SO... long story short, I emailed the hotel, and the hair dryer can be found on amazon for 19.95. yes, that's right. Here you go: http://www.amazon.com/Andis-Ceramic-Folding-Handle-Retractable/dp/B0009XH6TG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1245290779&sr=1-1
I hope I'm not too late. Either that, or I hope you like what you ended up getting.

My blow dryer died this morning (yes, the day I am flying to Oregon no less) and I am so thankful you posted this so long ago. I don't keep a spare on hand because the one I have has lasted about 5 years. Thankfully it still blows cold air, so I could finish slowly.

I'm going to get the one Lauren recommended. Yay! Thanks girls.
